Escondido means “hidden”, but with a population over 147,000, it obviously has been found! An active downtown filled with galleries, restaurants, and even a museum, is a favorite place for locals to spend time. Spring and Summer Friday nights find Grand Street crowded with residents viewing hot rods and unique cars, spinning hula hoops and dancing at the “Cruisin’ Grand” event. The California Center for the Arts, Grape Day Park, the Escondido History Center, and the Escondido Children’s Museum all offer activities for families to choose from on a regular basis, too. Aside from the town centered activities, Escondido has massive outdoor space, with thirteen parks and even three lakes, for boating and fishing.
